Founder, CEO

Ben Sosenko is the CEO and Founder of SRK Strategies, a Brooklyn-based strategic communications firm that operates at the intersection of sports, media, and technology. SRK advises high-growth companies, emerging leagues, and influential leaders on narrative strategy, reputation, and visibility at key inflection points. The firm is known for helping brands and properties break into the national conversation and build long-term cultural relevance.
Sosenko holds a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Pennsylvania and a master’s degree in Broadcast Journalism from the University of Miami.
He began his career as a TV news and sports journalist, spending nine years in markets including Sacramento, Hartford, and Westchester, NY. That newsroom foundation shaped his understanding of how stories are built, framed, and amplified.
He later moved into public service as Press Secretary for Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson, where he played a key role in communications efforts to keep the NBA franchise in Sacramento and in the development of the Golden 1 Center. He also helped lead communications strategy during Mayor Johnson’s presidency of the U.S. Conference of Mayors, including work tied to the Affordable Care Act and community policing initiatives.
Sosenko supported leadership during the search for the executive director of the National Basketball Players Association, which resulted in the appointment of the first woman to ever lead a major U.S. sports union. He also managed player communications following the Donald Sterling controversy, which culminated in Sterling’s lifetime ban from the NBA.
His sports and media portfolio expanded at Relevent Sports, where he helped lead communications for the International Champions Cup and supported the launch of LaLiga North America, a landmark joint venture with a European football league. As Chief Communications Officer at Overtime, he led communications for the launch of Overtime Elite, OT7, OTX, and OT Select, and supported multiple fundraising announcements that helped fuel the company’s rapid growth.
Sosenko’s client work has included Omaha Productions, The Volume, Draymond Green, Sacramento State, Overtime, LaLiga, Men in Blazers, Transwestern, Machete Group, SEIU Local 1000, the Charlotte Hornets, Enjoy Basketball, Goldin Auctions, Good Good Golf, and Real American Freestyle, among others. His clients and campaigns have been featured in outlets such as The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN, and Fox.
In addition to his client work, Sosenko has guest lectured on communications, media, and sports business at Columbia University, the University of Pennsylvania, NYU, St. John’s University, and Hofstra University.
He is frequently sought out by founders, leagues, and investors who want strategic guidance on how to tell their story, manage reputation, and seize moments of opportunity in a fast-moving media environment.
